Zion Lateef Williamson is an American professional basketball player that plays for the New Orleans Pelicans in the NBA.
Zion, born in Salisbury, North Carolina, attended Spartanburg Day School, where he was a consensus five-star recruit and one of the top five players in the class of 2018. In his senior year, he has named South Carolina Mr. Basketball after leading his squad to three straight state championships.
In addition, Williamson graduated from high school as a McDonald’s All-American, Mr. Basketball USA runner-up, and USA Today All-USA first-team selection. He received widespread media notice for his slam dunks in high school.
Zion won the ACC Player of the Year, ACC Athlete of the Year, and ACC Rookie of the Year awards in his freshman year, which was also his last season with Duke.
In January 2019, he broke the freshman scoring mark for a single game at his school. He also received the Wayman Tisdale Award, was named ACC Rookie of the Week five times, AP Player of the Year, and Sporting News College Player of the Year.

- Zion topped out at a Duke record 40-inch max vertical leap which is the highest max vertical leap in Duke history.
- Zion is so famous in high school that Drake even wore his jersey. As he said “When your favorite rapper wears your jersey, it’s an indescribable feeling.”
- Zion was ever on SLAM magazine cover at 16 years old with SLAM asking : “Are you ready for Zion Williamson?”
